The workshop
With Raffaele we will approach the travel reportage; a coherent visual history of your experience.
We will not propose a specific theme, your interests and your sensitivity will guide you; together we will learn to select the right shots, not just the nice ones, but those that most represent your trip.
This doesn't mean that you will be alone, Raffaele will always be available to help you on technical matters, but you will also have freedom of action and interpretation of your shots.
Review and editing sessions will be scheduled during the trip for better focus on the shooting sessions and for help you to the final selection.
A local fixer will accompany us on excursions, putting us in touch with the local culture.
We advise all participants to send us in advance, and then bring with them on the first day of workshop, a selection of up to 15 photos, better if a single project, so we can understand your way of photographing and your attitudes.

What we'll see?
San josè del Guaviare is a small river town that will be the base of our excursions. We will stop to observe life, wandering the streets, the market or simply having a Colombian coffee at the bar.
We will see the landscapes of the Llanos, and of the forest; with a slight hike we will climb the Cerro Azur to admire the mysterious ancient rock paintings and the incredible view of the forest.
December is considered the dry season in Guaviare, but water is always present; we'll navigate rivers and lagoons on small boats, in search of the pink dolphins that populate these areas and to enrich our travel experience we will try to swim with them.
We will be amazed by the colors of sunrise and sunset at the Laguna Negra, spending the night in simple wooden ecolodge on the forest border.
One of the places that makes Guaviare unique and different from other jungle destinations is Serrania de la Lindosa, an area characterized by the tropical savannah. La Ciutad de Piedra, with its surreal rock formations, the majestic Porta de Orion and the natural Tunnels, are the main natural wonders that will fascinate our adventure.

I'm addicted to traveling and to photography, usually my favorite destinations are off the beaten track: Xinjiang (Cina), Tuva Republic (Siberia), Flores (Indonesia), Chi Phat (Cambodia), Podlaskie (Poland) and Guaviare (Colombia).
All these places have a strong natural presence and a very different culture; these are the most important things I want to discover in my travels. I graduate from the Art Institute of Trieste and later from the European Design Institute in Milan. After studying with artist Mario Sillani Djerrahian in 1998 I became interested in photography and I developed a practice that is influenced by the world of memories in relation to the human and natural environment. |
